2022 Kia Soul Blue

Since its first introduction in 2008, the Kia Soul has undergone various changes and platform updates and recently entered its third generation. Its quirky boxy design is an immediate eye-grabber and has become a trending favorite among young buyers. For the 2022 model year, the Kia Soul arrives with a couple of revisions and new features to appeal to prospective buyers. One of these updates is removing the old Kia logo and installing the new one, giving the Kia Soul a hint of modern styling. Concerning technology, all S, X-Line, and GT-Line trims receive a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen display with built-in navigation, a wireless smartphone charger, dual USB charging ports, dual climate control, and a push-button start button. It is also important to note that Kia decided to eliminate the manual transmission from the entire Kia Soul lineup. Therefore only automatic transmissions are offered.

Exterior Styling

What stands out on the exterior of the 2022 Kia Soul is its black-mesh front grille, multi-reflector headlights, and standard 16-inch wheels. With a total of six trim levels to choose from, consumers can customize their Kia Soul to their sense of style. Opting for the top-tier Turbo trim not only comes with extra horsepower but exterior upgrades as well like chrome-tipped dual exhausts, LED headlights and taillights, a power sunroof, and fog lights. There are ten exterior color options to choose from, offering plenty of room for customization.

Interior Features

Drivers are rewarded with ultimate comfort when it comes to the interior of the new 2022 Kia Soul. Its interior features include a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat (with two-way power lumbar support). Heated front seats (available only on the EX and Turbo trims) are offered. More premium upgrades like a heated steering wheel and LED interior lighting are available only in the Turbo trim. In terms of technology, opting for the S trim and above is recommended because these trims come equipped with larger touchscreens, built-in navigation, satellite radio, including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Turbo trim is where the most desired interior features are: a premium Harmon Kardon Sound System, multi-colored speaker lights that pulse to the music, and a heads-up display that projects essential vehicle information on the windshield.

Performance and Fuel Economy

A standard 2.0 L 4-cylinder engine is offered on most of the trim levels, and it puts out 147hp and 132 lb-ft of torque. But the Turbo trim comes equipped with a more powerful 1.6 L turbocharged engine that produces 201hp and 195 lb-ft of torque. For a good balance of performance and fuel efficiency, the EX trim is the ideal choice. It gets 28mpg city, 33mpg highway, and 30mpg of mixed driving.

Passenger Safety

Some of the safety features for the 2022 Kia Soul include Forward Collision-Avoidance Assistance, Lane Keep Assist, Blind-Spot Monitoring, Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance, Smart Cruise Control, Forward Collision-Avoidance, and Pedestrian Detection. (If selecting the LX trim, consumers need to purchase the $900 LX Technology Package to obtain all safety features).
