Kia Reveals MPG and Driving Range of 2023 Kia Sportage Hybrid
Earlier this year, Kia revealed the all-new 2023 Sportage SUV with updated exterior styling, new safety technology, and revised performance. But very recently, Kia unveiled the hybrid version and it comes with some very impressive specifications. It’s scheduled to arrive in early 2022 and just like its gasoline-powered counterpart, the Sportage Hybrid features a spacious interior, the latest infotainment system, with the addition of hybrid components that make it go the extra mile during road trips that require long-distance driving. In particular, the two areas that make the hybrid worth buying are its class-leading driving range and mpg ratings. Here’s why…
Fuel Economy and Driving Range
The 2023 Kia Sportage Hybrid has a turbocharged 1.6 L 4-cylinder engine and a 44kW electric motor that work in unison to produce 226hp via a six-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard but consumers can upgrade to all-wheel drive for better traction when going off-road. In terms of fuel economy ratings, the Sportage Hybrid provides a combined 39mpg and has a driving range of over 500 miles. For consumers that need to haul some equipment, the Sportage Hybrid is able to tow up to 2,000 lbs. Some of the driver-oriented controls include dual-paddle shifters, four driving modes (Eco, Sport, Smart, and Snow), and a rotary-style shifter knob that replaces the old hand-held shifter.
Besides its fuel efficiency numbers, it also has very attractive features that begin with Kia’s iconic “tiger-nose” front grille that merges together with the boomerang-shaped LED daytime running lights. New 17-inch and 18-inch wheels are available, and depending on the trim level, faux leather upholstery is included. What is often seen on luxury brands are large touchscreen displays and Kia incorporated this idea onto the Sportage Hybrid. Inside is a 25-inch curved panoramic display (technically speaking, they are two 12.3-inch displays that combine together).
Safety and Technology
There is a whole suite of standard safety features on the new Sportage Hybrid that make it a safe family vehicle. Among them, they include forward-collision warning, lane keep assist, driver attention warnings, and much more. A total of three trim levels are available in the Sportage Hybrid that includes the LX, EX, and SX-Prestige. No official pricing figures have been released yet, but we can expect the base MSRP to start from around $30,000 once it hits showrooms early next year.
